Professional & Caring Dental Service General & Reconstructive Dentistry
Dr. Sherman wanted to be a dentist since about the age of 4. He grew up watching his father, Dr. Harvey Sherman, treating his patients and developed a passion for the profession at a very young age. He attended the Ohio State University for his undergraduate degree, and following graduation, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and completed his dental education at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. After dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at Miami Valley Hospital, in Dayton, Ohio.
Once his formal training was complete, he joined his father in private practice and they practiced together for many years. Dr. Sherman also stayed affiliated with Miami Valley Hospital and ran the TMJ clinic at the hospital for more than 10 years. Dr. Sherman’s passion for dentistry was so infectious that his son Michael also chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and is now a practicing endodontist.
Dr. Richard Sherman and his wife Connie are now living in San Diego, where they moved to be near their children. Dr. Sherman formed Torrey Pines Dental Arts, and is very pleased that Dr. Michael is now practicing with his father on a part-time basis, a dream come true for them both. In addition to private practice, both father and son are volunteering their time at the Dental Free Clinic in San Diego.
Dr. Sherman is very active in organized dentistry and maintains many professional affiliations. He is a charter member of the International Association of Comprehensive Aesthetics, a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, International Association of Orthodontics, American Orthodontic Society, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and the Alpha Omega Fraternity. Dr. Sherman treated many orthodontic cases during the 20 years he practiced general dentistry and has recently become certified in Invisalign®.
Liz RDA - The joy of Liz's life is her 3 year old English Bulldog named Kibbles! She's been in dentistry for over 10 years assisting different dentists in Southern California. While exploring new opportunities, she recently obtained her real estate license and enjoys working for Keller/Williams on the weekends. Now, she has happily returned to the dental field and is excited to be working in both the front office greeting patients and assisting Dr. Sherman in the back. When you walk through our doors, she'll usually be the first gal you'll meet!
Marielle DA - Happy and helpful, Marielle is Dr. Sherman's right hand gal here in the office. She hails originally from Washington State but has made Pacific Beach her home. A few passions in her life include gardening, riding her bike with her boyfriend, and taking care of her two turtles Kiwi and Jade. She loves to help patients feel their best while in the dental chair and will always make sure that you have the best care and comfort.
Christine RDH - Originally from Maine, she moved to America's Finest City in 1983. She then found her passion for dentistry while working at a dental office in Port Townsend, Washington. Since then, she knew she'd enjoy being a dental hygienist. She's been in the dental field for six years and enjoys every aspect of helping patients achieve a healthier smile.
